The permanent dock pulled anchoring bolts right out of the flagstone & stone wall. This portion was unstable. Plus, it was a low point in relation to the wooden dock. Leveling the dock and lawn would be very desirable.
Drainage from splashing waves needs to be directed. Therefore, this French Drain was created to direct the water in a stable direction, toward that top-center block.
Simple patio block and foundation blocks were leveled, but hidden by gravel except for the top. This permits the finished layer of flagstone to maintain level. Gravel surrounding the block assures drainage.
Flagstones that were placed by Kurt over the decades became buried in the soft soil at the water’s edge. Digging deeper revealed new layers of flagstone.

Permanent Dock - Current Work - ONE
The flagstones that bridge the lawn to the wooden dock are now a level area. This had not been the case in the past, if you recall. The lawn flowed down to the dock, and a wooden ramp gradually ascended to the double docks. The docks were at a higher level over the past decade due to the wave action.
These flagstones are not fully anchored, but are closer to completion.
The (hidden) French Drain still flows to the top-block, next to the yellow bucket.

Stone Wall - Upcoming concerns - TWO
More drainage concerns on the lawn need to be considered. This is the area to the left in the above picture, looking west toward the canoe / cookout areas.
Inside the existing stone wall, under the lawn, were the original logs that defined the edge of the lawn at the water. Those logs have rotted. If you kneel at the stone wall, on the grass, your feet might puncture through the lawn into a hollow area. That is a bit unnerving. A couple of large stones, sunken into the grass, are currently a temporary protection.
To address this concern, dirt & old wood should be excavated, and that French drain (consisting of the perforated plastic pipe, surrounded by gravel) extended west.
After this is complete, leveling of the top of the existing stone wall, consistent with the permanent flagstone is needed.

Wooden Dock - THREE
Some alternative sketches of the wooden dock are here. Posts imbedded in 5 gallon buckets, with concrete, should help prevent the "floating away" that ocurred with this spring's flooding.
This is work done on July 19th, assembling the permanent dock.Posts are anchored in cement-filled buckets, with further work anticipated.

Projects 3, 4, 5 & 6
THREE
Shore reinforcement, with stone, has been needed due to sporting motorboats on Green Lake. Undermining our trees and other vegetation has been caused by this destruction along the shoreline. Hopefully, local stone will prevent this man-made erosion.
FOUR
Well water at camp has functioned for almost 55 years. Lois recalled digging the well, behind the shed, in great pain. In hindsight, she probably had been suffering from pyelonephritis at the time, but fought the pain (at her husband's urging) and attributed her discomfort to the harsh ‘back work’ of digging a well.
Leaking well water connection was upgraded on 2009 with Mark Kane, plumber.
FIVE
Mother Nature is a ‘free woman’ in the Adirondacks. Trees have fallen at camp and need clearing.
SIX
In June this lock mechanism received a more contemporary key cylinder. Extra keys and duplicate keys for the front door will not be a burden.
Original front door and latch mechanism was more than 50 years old. Papa, more than likely, got the door as a used item. The key mechanism was already old. The key itself, is a ‘one-of-a-kind’ style, which has tended to baffle locksmiths. Therefore, it is no surprise that NO key has been successfully duplicated at camp. Papa kept the original. Therefore, most of us have entered camp at least once by climbing in through the bedroom window.
